For November 2023, we have decided to combine our usual separate Painting, Photography, and Cooking weeks into a taster week where you can experience all of the disciplines during your stay. We will be joined for the week by our painting/ photography tutor Mark Holden. This week-long retreat is designed for all levels of guest ability and Mark will tailor your individual tuition, specific to you.

Everything is optional of course and you can dip in, dip out as you see fit. Our luxury villa, Azaren, is located 40 mins from Marrakech in the Ourika Valley, nestled in the foothills of the stunning Atlas Mountains. Everything about Azaren screams luxury from your accommodation, the extensive planted gardens and grounds, heated swimming pool, tennis court, and dedicated Pilates/fitness studio, not to mention we will be waited on hand and foot by their excellent team of staff and our own private butler, Ishmal.

During your stay, we will venture into Marrakech and explore together the medieval medina, Majorelle Gardens, and Yves Saint Laurent museum. For those wishing to, we will trek into the Atlas Mountains and to help get your creative juices flowing, we will visit the spectacular Anima botanical and art gardens. You can also take advantage of the villa’s own Hamman for an exceptional massage and exfoliation experience. Morocco is the highlight of the flavours travel calendar and as such, is only made available to Amici clients. We can’t wait for you to join us.

Holiday Itinerary

Day 1 -

Arrive at Marrakech airport and once the group is all together, you will be taken by private minibus in our group transfer to the villa where you can settle in, meet your teacher and chef and enjoy welcome drinks. Dinner this evening is at the villa, prepared by the villa cooking ladies.

Day 2 -

After breakfast, you will have an intro to photography with Mark Holden. Whether using an SLR or your own phone camera, Mark will establish your level and instruct you individually from there. We will have lunch at the villa and then in the afternoon, Mark will set you a project within the villa grounds to put into practice your morning workshop. Dinner will be in the villa this evening.

Day 3 -

After breakfast, you will visit the local market of Ourika for a guided tour. This will give you a flavour of the “real Morocco” where you will witness first-hand villagers from the mountains going about their daily business. After the market visit, you will be collected by your driver and taken to lunch in the Atlas mountains. Plenty of photographic opportunities. Dinner will be at the villa.

Day 4 -

After breakfast, Mark will do his intro to painting. All materials will be supplied but do feel free to bring your own should you have them. After lunch, you will visit the nearby sculpture gardens. Return to the villa for dinner.

Day 5 -

After breakfast, we will drive for 50 minutes and spend the day in Marrakech. You will be accompanied by the host team. Choose to do shopping in the medina – an amazing cultural and sensory experience or visit the Majorelle Gardens and then have a late lunch in Marrakech. We will return to the villa for dinner.

Day 6 -

After breakfast, we will be heading out on an optional walk into the Atlas Mountains with a local guide. Returning for lunch and then continue your afternoon painting/photography or simply relax by the pool. This evening dinner will be at the villa.

Day 7 -

After breakfast enjoy a cooking lesson, and enjoy the results for lunch. You will have plenty of time to finish your artwork in the afternoon ready for the evening’s exhibition of works. The farewell dinner will be at the villa.

Day 8 -

After breakfast, the group transfer will collect you and take you back to Marrakech airport for your flight home.
