No Single Supplement Holidays

When Lorne Blyth set up Flavours Holidays over 20 years ago, she was certain about one thing: she would never charge her guests a single supplement. She didn’t want to punish anyone who was travelling alone by loading on additional costs. Every solo Flavours guest has their own room at no extra cost.

We’re still proud to offer no single supplement holidays. In fact, we actively welcome solo travellers on our activity holidays in Italy and Spain. Around 70% of our guests come on their own. Even if every room on our small-group activity holidays is occupied by a single traveller, that’s fine by us. Our groups (usually between 8 and 12 guests) tend to be a happy mix of solo guests, those who have come with a friend, and couples, with single travellers making up the majority.

Why Flavours holidays suit solo travellers

Solo travellers love our holidays. While offering the chance to travel independently, our holidays also give guests the structure of a daily activity session, taken with a few like-minded others.

The activities we offer are Pilates, painting, cooking, learning Italian, and photography. Whether you’ve tried the activity before or not, isn’t important. We employ friendly and helpful tutors who can help anyone at any level improve. Most people are amazed at what they can achieve.

Coming on holiday by yourself can be a little daunting for some, but rest assured, if you’re a solo traveller, we’re extremely welcoming. Our bilingual host – who is with you all week – meets you at the airport and accompanies you to our villa accommodation. Here, you and your fellow holidaymakers meet if you haven’t already met at the airport. You can then settle into your accommodation. As we said, we never charge a single supplement to solo travellers, so you’ll have your own room with private bathroom facilities.

Each day you and your fellow guests will take part in your chosen activity. If you’re cooking, you’ll cook and eat what you make at the villa. Pilates guests have daily sessions at the villa – sometimes outdoors if it’s warm. And for painting, photography and learning Italian, you’ll work at the villa or out on excursions. Whichever activity you choose, you’ll spend time on it each day, and we also offer all our guests trips to idyllic local towns or attractions – perhaps a vineyard, or a beautiful Renaissance city.

Mealtimes are convivial – we’ll eat al fresco if we can. During the week, we’ll also visit favourite restaurants or trattorias, as well as eating delicious local food, cooked by a chef using fresh ingredients at the villa.

Travelling solo with Flavours Holidays lets you meet others, have a stimulating learning experience, but also spend time relaxing on your own, if that’s what you’re after. Our holidays are always relaxed and unpressured.

We’re sure you’ll have a great time as a solo traveller on a Flavours holiday. But don’t take our word for it; over 40% of our guests are repeat customers. Most people want to do more Flavours holidays once they’ve tried one.
