Group holidays in Umbria, Italy

We’re sure you know all about Tuscany; with its rolling hills and art-filled galleries it’s one of the most famous parts of Italy. But, while Tuscany claims all the limelight, right next door is Umbria, its equally beautiful, yet lesser-known sibling. Now, we’re the first to shout about how much we love Tuscany, but Flavours Holidays has always been about exploring off the beaten track and finding authentic, local experiences away from the crowds. If that sounds like you, then you’re in the right place.

Nicknamed the ‘green heart’ of Italy, Umbria sits in the middle of the country and is bursting with lush landscapes, hilltop towns, and medieval architecture. A haven for those who love to get lost in nature, you can walk the lakes, streams, and forests, observe the birds and wildlife, and enjoy its delicious natural larder.

Food is a huge part of Umbria’s appeal, known for its earthy, white and black truffles which grow in the wild, almost all year around. Rich and fragrant, you can enjoy the best truffle pasta of your life here, alongside herb-stuffed porchetta and the native Panzanella salad. In the past, Umbria’s wine culture was overlooked in favour of other, buzzier Italian cities, but some of the vineyards here are nearly ancient, while new producers and wine experiences are flourishing. In fact, for those in the know, Umbria’s wine scene is one of the most exciting and diverse, enhanced by a sense of local character.

Umbria is the only region in Italy not bordered by the coast or another country, meaning that some see it as the truest form of Italian culture. While here, soak up the serene scenes, watch the sunset over the hills, and wander charming towns that have stood for a millennium. We’re so excited to welcome you on our newly-launched breaks including taster weeks, cookery holidays, and painting breaks. Keep reading to learn more!
