Venice September 2022 – Cookery (£49)
“Vanessa, our tutor, was a highly talented and inspirational chef who clearly enjoyed sharing her love of, and pride in, the cuisine of the Veneto. One of our excursions was a morning visit to the local town of Treviso. One thing I’ve learned from all the Flavours Holidays in Italy is that it doesn’t take long, amid the hustle and bustle of a typical town centre, to discover oases of calm. This picture is of a quiet corner of a square in Treviso, very close to its thriving market. “

Bridge – Venice (£49)
“It was the smaller, more drab back streets and wee bridges that drew my attention. This bridge was on the walk from the taxi rank to where we had lunch. I liked the pea-green boat against the subdued background colours. And no people! This is a watercolour painting.”

Broken reflection of a gondola pole – Venice (£69)
“Venice quite rightly is described as one of our most beautiful cities – and it is. However, it is the more mundane images that interest me. I loved the multitude of seemingly haphazard gondola poles. From the sketches and photos I made I digitally enlarged one to get this image of the broken reflection of a pole. And I messed with the colour too! This is a watercolour painting.”
