Emilia Romagna, a region of unrivaled charm, with immense artistic beauty unparalleled hospitality, and some of the most amazing landscapes you can imagine. The perfect region for a budding artist to feel inspired. We visit the capital of ceramics, Faenza, and the beautiful town of Bresighilla with plenty of opportunity to sketch.
And on our trip to Ravenna the city itself, you can visit churches containing world-famous mosaic art, lit up by cleverly positioned stained-glass windows.
Our base is in the peaceful hills of Brisighella, within the Regional Park of Romagna called Parco Carnè, on the border between Romagna and Toscana, where your painting holiday will include sessions on various aspects of colour, materials, and style. Our tutors are used to teaching every level of artist from beginner to accomplished, so no need to worry about how good you are. They’re talented, encouraging and patient. You’ll also have plenty of time to relax and enjoy delicious Italian food and wine in stunning surroundings.

Villa Accommodation
You will be staying in this rustic country house located on the hills of Brisighella, within the Regional Park of Romagna called Parco Carnè. With stunning views of the Apennine foothills, this country house is the best place for relaxation and tranquillity. The hills stretch endlessly from the villa, and you can easily stroll on nearby tracks, as well as simply relax with a drink in the large garden, gazing at the limitless view. It’s a peaceful painters’ paradise.
Painting in Emilia Romagna- Itinerary
Day 1 (Saturday) - Group transfer to the villa from Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport.
Welcome to Emilia Romagna! Our Flavours transfer will meet you at the airport and take you to our villa where you can settle in and meet your teacher and chef. Dinner this evening is at the villa, prepared by your chef.
Day 2 (Sunday) - Your first painting session: an introduction to watercolour techniques.
After breakfast, you will have your first sketching and painting session with your teacher. This will include discussing the course outline, aims, and expectations and how to get started. The session will be followed by lunch prepared by your chef. The afternoon is yours to continue sketching and painting, or to relax by the pool. Dinner is prepared for you at the villa.
Day 3 (Monday) - A visit to the capital of Ceramics
After breakfast, you will head to the town of Faenza, the Capital of ceramics known throughout the world and located along the famous Via Emilia, Faenza is one of the most beautiful art towns in Italy. You will enjoy sketching and exploring this fascinating town and then have lunch in a local trattoria. Dinner tonight is at the villa prepared by your chef.
Day 4 (Tuesday) - A day of painting and sketching at the villa.
After breakfast, you will develop your watercolour and drawing skills in another painting session with your teacher. The afternoon is yours to continue painting or relaxing around the villa and pool. Lunch and dinner are at the villa.
Day 5 (Wednesday) - Visit Ravenna, with the chance to see famous mosaic art, then a trattoria dinner.
A chance today to try a larger and more ambitious work using the sketches and ideas accumulated so far. Following lunch, the afternoon will be spent in the medieval town of Ravenna, known for the colourful mosaics adorning many of its central buildings. You’ll have a chance to explore, sketch and do some shopping before dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 6 (Thursday) - Visit to medieval village for sketching
This morning, you will visit Brisighella, a delightful medieval village, considered one of the most beautiful towns in Italy. With its clock tower and castle, it’s the perfect spot for sketching. You’ll return to the villa for lunch and can spend the afternoon painting or relaxing. Dinner will be cooked for you at the villa tonight.
Day 7 (Friday) - Spend today relaxing by the pool or painting, plus a chance to display your work.
A leisurely morning to spend developing your work at the villa. For the rest of your last day, you are free to paint or relax by the pool. Dinner is at the villa with a group show of your paintings.
Day 8 (Saturday) - Breakfast then transfer back to Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport.
After breakfast, you’ll have some time to pack before our driver takes you on our group transfer back to Bologna Airport for your flight home. Arrivederci!
