Flavours staff Christmas wish list

We asked the Flavours team what they’d like this Christmas…

What’s your ideal Christmas gift?

A good book please! Anything related to Italy or a crime novel are always well received.

If you got a Flavours Gift Voucher in your stocking, which holiday would you choose?

We’ve been offering holidays in Puglia for over 15 years now, but I never tire of going there so I’d be booking a Pilates holiday in Puglia with my voucher and using it to keep me motivated for my New Year’s resolutions…

Which Italian food or drink will you include in your festivities?

I always make a dark chocolate & amaretti semifreddo for Christmas evening, so a packet of good-quality amaretti biscuits would be handy!

What’s your ideal Christmas gift?

My ideal Christmas gift is when my kids and hubby give me ‘Pledge Vouchers’ to use throughout the year, offering to do things around the house that they wouldn’t normally do. Failing that it would have to be diamonds!!

If you got a Flavours Gift Voucher in your stocking, which holiday would you choose?

I would use a Flavours voucher on a trip to Sicily. With great food (I do love arancini) and wine, and wonderful warm temperatures, it’s everything I could ask for. Not to mention that spending time with our Sicilian chef Carla is just like a holiday with a second family.

Which Italian food or drink will you include in your festivities?

I’ll be serving an eggnog panna cotta with mulled fruit compote, and as always Prosecco, lots of Prosecco!

What’s your ideal Christmas gift?

I always love a new cookbook. It’s always on my Christmas list… Nothing too specific to style or region but you can never go wrong with something like ‘Gino’s Hidden Italy’.

If you got a Flavours Gift Voucher in your stocking, which holiday would you choose?

I was lucky enough to spend some time on a painting week with Hugh and ever since then I have been itching to get back. Hugh encouraged me to join in on one of his sessions and I really enjoyed it. What do you think of my first attempt?

Which Italian food or drink will you include in your festivities?

Cannoli for sure! I learnt how to make these in Sicily and have made them so many times since I returned home. I don’t have too much of a sweet tooth but these are too good to pass up 🙂

What’s your ideal Christmas gift?

A lovely shiny Pinarello Dogma.  And a trip to the Dolomites to ride it on some good roads. And maybe a date with Alberto Contador, but only if he brings some Prosecco. (Yes, I know he’s not Italian but we’ll let him off just this once).

If you got a Flavours Holiday Voucher in your stocking, which holiday would you choose?

I would choose Puglia Pilates. I’ve never been and the photographs look beautiful, so I have to visit sometime soon! All the Puglian food we’ve had here, cooked by the fabulous Antonio – Puglian chef extraordinaire – has been just delicious. And Pilates will give me good strong core muscles, so I can book my next trip to the Dolomites to cycle up the mountains!

Which Italian food or drink will you include in your festivities?

A nice side of salmon with a pistachio-pesto crust on Christmas Eve. And on Boxing Day, leftover-turkey cacciatore with an attempt at homemade gnocchi (if Ciaran gives me his secret recipe). Plus lots and lots of Ferrari Brut (you all thought I was going to say Prosecco, didn’t you?)!

What’s your ideal Christmas gift?

I love travelling, so my ideal Christmas gift would be a trip to a place that’s still on my bucket list, such as Australia, Japan or South America.

If you got a Flavours Gift Voucher in your stocking, which holiday would you choose?

I would choose a Pilates & Mindfulness retreat in Tuscany, a new Flavours holiday starting in June 2017. I’m particularly excited about this new week as it combines all the amazing physical benefits of Pilates sessions with mindfulness training.

Which Italian food or drink will you include in your festivities? Tiramisu, as you can never go wrong with it, and of course lots of Prosecco!

What’s your ideal Christmas gift?

Two tickets to the Italian Formula One Grand Prix, so I can cheer on Ferrari amongst the tifosi!

If you got a Flavours Holiday Voucher in your stocking, which holiday would you choose?

Cooking in Amalfi, because I adore seafood and I would love to lounge by the pool on the Amalfi cliffs. Heaven on Earth.

Which Italian food or drink will you include in your festivities?

Amaretti, as it is a firm family favourite to have with our coffee, along with the mince pies!

What’s your ideal Christmas gift?

A camera – I would love to be able to take better photos and not keep having to use my phone!

If you got a Flavours Gift Voucher in your stocking, which holiday would you choose?

Cooking in Venice as it’s the only place out of all our destinations I haven’t been to yet. I also think it’s one of the must-see places in the world.
Which Italian food or drink will you include in your festivities?

I love coffee so I will definitely be having some tiramisu!

What’s your ideal Christmas gift?

Tickets to see The Royal Ballet’s production of ‘The Nutcracker’ at Covent Garden.

If you got a Flavours Gift Voucher in your stocking, which holiday would you choose?

Pilates in Sicily – I love the idea of Pilates lessons by the pool as the sun sets, followed by amazing Sicilian dishes and wines late into the evening!

Which Italian food or drink will you include in your festivities?

Limoncello – this year, I learned how to make limoncello from scratch when I was in Amalfi. It was so easy to make and so delicious that I’m going to try to replicate it this Christmas and give it to friends as a present.

We hope you are enjoying your Christmas!!
